Virtual Journal Club March 2014: A Randomized Trial of Protocol-Based Care for Early Septic Shock

This month's Virtual Journal Club is hot!!!

We will be discussing the very recent ProCESS trial which is a follow up to the 2001 Early Goal Directed Therapy study by Manny Rivers.

In summary: SOME of the things we have been doing for Sepsis are really good....and SOME of the things we had been doing (like monitoring central venous oxygen levels with expensive catheters) weren't.

We've learned a lot about Sepsis in the past 15 years and hopefully this study will help us focus on what matters most:  EARLY RECOGNITION, FLUIDS, AND ANTIBIOTICS.

Everyone together now:

EARLY RECOGNITION, FLUIDS, AND ANTIBIOTICS!!!

One more time:

EARLY RECOGNITION, FLUIDS, AND ANTIBIOTICS!!!

  1. I wonder if choice of antibiotic has any morbidity/mortality change?
